Zelma Leona Mitchell, 101, of Morgantown, W.Va. and formerly of Graysville, Pa. died at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003 in the Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. of pneumonia and heart failure.Mrs. Mitchell was born March 15, 1902 in Graysville, Pa. a daughter of Jacob and Osa McClellan Wells.She had resided in Graysville all her life prior to moving to Morgantown, W. Va. in 1997.Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Unity Presbyterian Church in Graysville.She was also a member of the Graysville V.F.D. Auxiliary and the James Farrell American Legion Post 330 Auxiliary in Waynesburg. Pa.Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed baking and cooking as long as her health permitted.On May 19, 1921 she married Stephen Edward Mitchell who died March 14, 1972.Surviving are one daughter, Martha Bissett of Morgantown, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Dolores Carroll, James E. Mitchell, Denise McCauley and Beth Conklin; five great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one step great granddaughter.Deceased are one son, Edward L. Mitchell; two sisters, Laura Wells and Audrey Staggers; three brothers, Franklin Wells who died at birth, Robert and Benjamin Wells; one great grandson, David W. Smith.The family requests no flowers, suggests memorial contributions be made to the Unity Presbyterian Church, Graysville, Pa. 15337.
