William Wayne Simms

William Wayne Simms, 66, of Cameron, W.Va., formerly of Greene County, Pa., died Friday, November 6, 2015 in the UPMC-Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. of complications with pancreatic cancer.
He was born November 16, 1948 in Aleppo, Pa. a son of the late William Earl and Violet Lenore Moore Simms and had resided in the Cameron area since 1970.
Mr. Simms was a member of the Windy Gap Independent Church at Aleppo, where he was serving as the Sunday school superintendent and a deacon.
He was a 1966 graduate of West Greene High School, and later earned a B.S. degree in elementary education from the former California State Teachers College, and a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Administration from West Virginia University.
Mr. Simms was a teacher in the Marshall County, W.Va. elementary school system for over 44 years, beginning as an elementary teacher at Cameron Elementary, then a teaching principal at Pleasant Valley Elementary, then returned to Cameron Elementary where he served as the principal for several years, and last served as the Assistant Superintendent of Marshall County Schools from 2001 until his retirement in 2013.
He was a member of the W.VA. and National Association of Elementary School Principals and a life member of the National Parent Teachers Association.
Mr. Simms was an avid hunter as long as his health permitted.
On November 20, 1969 he married Kathleen Weisgerber who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Justin, husband of Ala Simms of Pleasant Valley, W.Va.; a granddaughter, Emilia Justine Simms; two sisters, Sue, wife of Carl Bissett of Havre de Grace, MD. and Nancy, wife of Victor Antill of Aleppo; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 with Pastor Tom Singo officiating. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Windy Gap Independent Church, C/O Anita Ross, PO Box 54, Aleppo, Pa. 15310 or the Cameron High School, Elementary Scholarship Fund (to be established), C/O Kathy Harris, 2012 Blue Gold Rd., Cameron, W.Va. 26033.
