Virginia D. Ferrell, 102, formerly of Claysville. Pa., died on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 10:40 AM in Standish Assisted Living, Amwell Township.
She was born December 12, 1921 in Donegal Twp., Washington County, Pa. a daughter of the late Jewell Clyde and Ida Pearl Edgar Hinerman, and had resided in Claysville from 1947 until moving to Amwell Twp. in 2016.
Mrs. Ferrell was a member and former Deacon of the Claysville United Presbyterian Church and was a 1942 graduate of the former Hickory High School.
She was a member of the O.E.S. Chapter 187, Evening Star Chapter, and the Claysville American Legion Auxiliary since 1951.
Mrs. Ferrell served on the Election Board for 25 years, and enjoyed family, playing Bingo and making afghans.
On December 12, 1945 she married Howard (Hardy) V. Ferrell who died February 15, 1985.
Surviving are a daughter, Jo Ann Cook of Claysville; 5 grandchildren, Lance Cook, Heidi Cook McIntyre, Daniel and Doug Rush, and Gretchen Rush Hurst; 8 great grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren .
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are a daughter, Nancy Rush; a sister, Olive Summerville; two brothers, Melvin and Robert Hinerman.
Friends will be received from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am, Monday, July 15, 2024, in the Claysville United Presbyterian Church, with Rev. August P. Hurst officiating. Interment will follow in the Claysville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., Rogersville, Pa.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Claysville Volunteer Fire Department.
