Thomas "Tom" R. Tharp

Thomas “Tom” R. Tharp, age 88, of Smock, formerly of Wind Ridge, passed away, Saturday, March 15, 2025, at WeCare at Rolling Meadows in Waynesburg.

Born May 20, 1936, in Wind Ridge, son of the late Thomas M. and Nanna Belle (Reigle) Tharp.

Tom graduated from Richhill Township High School in 1954. He was an active member of the Bible Baptist Church in Uniontown. Tom married Mabel L. Gilbert in May 1974, and they were happily married for 42 years until her passing on April 3, 2017. He was employed with Texas Eastern as an Operator on natural gas pumps until he retired in 1991. Tom enjoyed traveling, reading his Bible, and visiting with friends and family.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Tharp, of Illinois; two grandchildren, Ryan and Melanie Tharp; five great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Joyce Tharp, of Indiana.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jo Bissett.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 11-1 PM at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy. PO Box 434 Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181, where the funeral service will be held directly after with Pastor Dale Redick, officiating. Burial will be private.
