Shirley Ann Gilmer Tarr, 87, of Waynesburg, Pa. died on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at WE CARE at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa., following a six-month illness.
She was born April 30 1937 in Clarksville, Pa. a daughter of the late Howard James and Ocie Ferne McCarthy Gilmer and had resided in Carmichaels from 1990 until moving to Waynesburg in 2004.
Mrs. Tarr was a 1956 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School.
She enjoyed playing Bingo and shopping.
Mrs. Tarr was an employee of the former Greene County Memorial Hospital and the former Greenway Shirt Factory, both in Waynesburg.
On September 2, 1961 she married Clarence Edwin Tarr who died September 8, 1982.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Bates of Waynesburg and Tracy Tarr of Uniontown; a step-son, Charles E. Tarr of Colorado; a Sister, Margaret DeFrancesco of Waynesburg; eight grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are; two sisters, Dorothy Fordyce and Loretta Furman; one brother, Thomas Gilmer.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 11:00 am until time of services at 1:00 pm in the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC in Rogersville, Pa, with Rev. William Parker officiating. Private interment will follow in the Greene County Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Jefferson Baptist Church, 177 Pine St., Jefferson, Pa. 15344.
