Ron Lohr,73, of Waynesburg, Pa. and formerly of Ryerson (Richhill Twp.), died at 10:48 pm, Saturday, November 27, 2021 in his home, with his family by his side, which was his only desire, while battling lung cancer for the past seven months.
He was born May 6, 1948 in Waynesburg, a son of the late Walter Eugene and Edna Irene Hewitt Lohr, and had resided in Richhill Twp. for 25 years prior to moving to Waynesburg in 1995.
Mr. Lohr was a member of the Rogersville United Methodist Church and a 1966 graduate of West Greene High School.
He was an avid golfer, enjoyed baseball, softball, and coached Little League baseball, and assisted his son as an assistant varsity baseball coach at West Greene High School, and he often spoke of the wonderful friends he had made over his love of sports.
Mr. Lohr was employed for 37 years as a Sprinkler Fitter with the Brewer Company of W.Va., prior to retiring in 2002, and was a member of the National Automatic Sprinkler Union 669.
On January 28, 1967 he married Daunice Jean Hewitt who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Shawn, companion of Nicole Higgenbotham of Waynesburg; two daughters, Leigh Ann Lohr, companion of James Henry of Waynesburg and Michelle Howard, companion of Doug Moore of Rogersville; nine grandchildren, Jordan and Brian Scritchfield, Taylor Lohr, Nathan Ammons, Michael, Ronald, Christian and Tia Howard and Ashley Howard Deter; two brothers, Walter A. (Butch) Lohr and Lenny (Patty) Lohr, both of Waynesburg; two sisters, Karen Howard of Greensboro and Mary J. (Roger) Cunningham of Cameron, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents is an infant son, Michael Allan Lohr; a brother, Gary L. Lohr who died April 17, 2021 and a sister, Leslie Lohr who died in March 2019.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. In Rogersville where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 2, 2021 with Rev. Bruce Judy officiating. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
