Robert J. Tarbet, 91, of Waynesburg, Pa., formerly of New Freeport, died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 in the Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, following a one month illness.He was born October 1, 1921 in Clarksburg, W.Va. a son of the late Robert Eaton and Elizabeth Ellen Crahn Tarbet and has resided in the Waynesburg area since 1944.Mr. Tarbet was a member of the Church of Christ in New Freeport.He was employed by the former Equitable Gas Co. for over 43 years, retiring on October 1, 1983 as the Chief Engineer at the Rogersville station, and following retirement, he was employed by the former Kenny Stewart and John Howard Motors for 12 years, and had also served as a Justice of the Peace for 12 years. Mr. Tarbet enjoyed hunting as long as his health permitted.On February 14, 1979 he married Lois Ruth Bonar Mason who died September 7, 2009.Surviving are two step children; seven step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren; a brother, William, husband of Delgreta Tarbet of West Union, W. Va.; a sister, Catherine Brown of Glen Dale, W. Va. and his dog and best friend, Jack.Deceased in addition to his parents and his wife are six sisters.
