Opal Rush

Opal C. Rush, 89, formerly of Claysville, Pa. died at 4:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2006 in the Breese Rest Home, Buffalo Twp., Washington Co. Pa. after being in failing health for the past two years.She was born June 15, 1916 in Richhill Twp., Greene Co., Pa. a daughter of Charles Clinton and Alta Rae Jones Conklin and had been a resident of the Claysville area since 1948.Mrs. Rush was a member of the Enon Baptist Church but had attended the Claysville Baptist Church for several years as long as her health permitted.She was a member of the Claysville senior citizens and enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, dominos and playing cards.Mrs. Rush was employed as a cashier by Lee Gashel and Sons for over 30 years prior to retiring in June 1997.On March 18, 1948 she married Ralph (Whiskers) Rush who died July 4, 1984.Surviving are a sister, Dorothy Gashel of Claysville; a brother, Arthur (Grace Rush) Conklin of Washington; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to her husband is a son, F. Bruce Rush who died Oct. 2, 1996; three sisters, Hazel Conklin who died in infancy, Irene Miller and Mae Roberts; three brothers, Raymond Conklin who died in infancy, Howard and Paul Conklin. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Claysville Baptist Church or the Enon Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa.
