Kurtis D. Jones

Kurtis D. Jones, age 55 of Holbrook, PA passed away Monday, October 25, 2021, at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, WV.

He was born on January 28, 1966, in Morgantown, WV the son of Kenneth Jones, Sr. and Linda (Henderson) Jones.

Kurtis graduated from West Greene High School in 1984 where he was on the wrestling team and played the trumpet in the band. He went on to get his bachelor’s degree in education and a master's degree in Biology from the California University of Pennsylvania. Then finished with his Doctorate degree in Entomology from the North Carolina State University. Kurtis started teaching at West Greene High School in September 2009 as a Biology Teacher, where it was a career goal to eventually come home to teach at his high school. He helped students prepare for college, started the Aquaponics program and was the head of the science club. Kurtis attended Willow Grove Baptist Church in Waynesburg. He was a employed with the Syngenta Crop Protection from 1995 to 2009. Kurtis fundraised for the Humane Society of Greene County and also got the students from West Greene to help out. Kurtis enjoyed fishing, hunting, building, and flying model airplanes and helping with sports events at West Greene such as the score keeper and ticket collector. He married Connie (Ross) on May 11, 1991 and were married for 30 years.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by two children, Sarah Jones, of Panama City, FL. and Rachel Jones, of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers, Kenneth Duane (Kimberly) Jones, Jr., of Wind Ridge and Kevin Dale (Amy) Jones, of Waynesburg; two nieces and two nephews.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Services have been entrusted to Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy. Rogersville, PA 15359.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greene County Humane Society, 183 Jefferson Rd. Waynesburg, PA 15370.
