John A. Weaver, 80, of Gilmore Twp., Greene County, Pa. died at 12:25 am on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 in the home of his niece and caregiver, Lisa Gatrell.
He was born November 20, 1943 in Jackson Twp., Greene County, Pa. a son of the late Ray “Buss” and Anna Katherine Utt Weaver and had been a resident of the New Freeport area all his life.
Mr. Weaver attended West Greene High School.
He was a self-employed farmer, and an employee of the former Headlee Brothers Sawmill, Stalnaker Logging and was last employed by Berdine Custom Hardwoods, prior to retiring in 2002.
Mr. Weaver enjoyed eating and was said to be “the first to the table and last to leave”, and enjoyed hunting and family gatherings.
Surviving is a brother, Charles “Bub” Weaver, with whom he shared a home; 2 sisters-in-law, Betty Morris Weaver of New Freeport and Fern Cunningham Weaver, of Holbrook; a brother-in-law, P.I. Cunningham, of New Freeport; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents are 2 brothers, Ralph and Donley Weaver; 2 sisters, Betty Cunningham and Edna Mae (Sis) Main.
Friends and family will be received from 11:00 am and until time of services at l:00 pm on Saturday, August 3, 2024 in the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC in Rogersville, Pa., with Pastor Vernon K. Berdine officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery, Jackson Twp. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Masontown (Pa.) Amedisys Hospice.
