John Kent Jones

John Kent Jones, age 59, of Spraggs, died on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV., following a lengthy battle of ongoing health conditions.

Born December 21, 1965, in Waynesburg, son of Shirley Ann (Parson) Jones, of Canonsburg and the late Terry Kent Jones.

John graduated from West Greene High School in 1984. After graduation, he worked in the pipeline industry, and as a Mechanic at Jones Amoco and Bortz Chevrolet. John began working for Equitable Gas in 1992, which later became Peoples Gas in 2013, where he stayed until his health would no longer permit in 2020.

Besides being a hard worker, handyman, and a person who would do anything to help you, John was an avid sports fan, hunter and trapper. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors especially looking for morel mushrooms. He also enjoyed collecting old coins and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by, two daughters, Amanda Jones, of Spraggs, and Katheryn (Jeremiah) Davis, of Crucible; four grandchildren, Chloe Jones, Ryder and Taralyn Currin, and Jaxson Davis; two brothers, Terry Jay (Debra) Jones, of Rogersville and David (Jennifer) Jones, of Waynesburg; sister, Jennifer L. Jones, of Green River, WY; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by, maternal grandparents, Charles (Kathryn) Parson; paternal grandparents, Charles (Thelma) Jones; uncle, Ed Parson; and cousins, Robert Parson and Cody Bayles.

Friends and family will be received on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 2-6 PM at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy. PO Box 434 Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181, where the funeral service will be held directly after at 6:00 PM with Pastor Scott Blair, officiating. Burial will be private.
