Jerome E. Murphy, 77, of Aleppo Township, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017, in his home.
Born May 3, 1940, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Edward and Anna Mae Raible Murphy.
He was a graduate of Hickory High School.
Mr. Murphy served his country in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965 and was a member of Cameron American Legion Post 18.
He was a resident of Greene County for 38 years. He was employed for over 30 years between Molycorp in Washington, and Universal Stainless-Steel Mill in Bridgeville.
In his spare time, he enjoyed being on his backhoe and digging in the dirt. He was a mechanic who helped his neighbors by working on their vehicles.
Surviving are his companion, Sara Briggs; six daughters, Erin (Brian) Klobchar, Debbie (Eric) Furbee, Bree Murphy, Becky (Kenny) Moskal, Audra (Joe) Luisi and Heather (Ernie) Ross; a son, Stephen Murphy; two stepdaughters, Teresa (Scott) Glotfelty and Deb (Randy) Coger; two stepsons, Warren Briggs and Robert (Patty) Briggs; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gretchen Murphy and Sharon Murphy; two brothers, Tim Murphy and Ted Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Jessie Murphy.
Mr. Murphy’s wishes were to be cremated. His arrangements were entrusted to Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home LLC., 3275 West Roy Furman Highway, Rogersville, PA 15359, 724-499-5181.
