James "JD" Richmond

James ”JD” Richmond, 90 of Claysville, Pa. died on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 4:15 am in the AHN Canonsburg Hospital, Canonsburg, Pa. following a brief illness.

He was born February 22, 1934 in Washington, Pa. a son of the late Joseph Reed and Clara Marie Shriver Richmond and had resided in the Claysville area all his life.

Mr. Richmond was a member of the Claysville United Methodist Church and had attended the former Claysville High School.

He enjoyed the time with his family, golfing and gardening as long as his health permitted.

Mr. Richmond was a former employee of HC Price Company (Coating Division) for 23 years prior to retiring in 1995, and had been a member of the Operating Engineers, Local 66 since 1956.

On June 18, 1952 he married Shirley J. Moore who died September 10, 2024.

Surviving are three sons, Robert J. “BJ” (Patty) Richmond, of Wilmington, NC., Michael J. “Mike” Richmond, companion of Darla Wood of Claysville and William J. “Jay” (Michelle) Richmond, of Washington; a grandson, Nicholas (Lesley) Richmond, of Willow Spring, N.C.; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Averi Richmond.

Deceased in addition to his parents and his wife are a grandson, Jason Brent Richmond who died in infancy; three brothers, Thomas “Buck”, Robert “Bud” and Norman “Sonny” Richmond.

He was the last of his immediate family.

Friends and family will be received from 12 noon until 8:00 pm Tuesday, in the Claysville United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 18, 2024, with Rev. Terry Teluch officiating. Interment will follow in the Claysville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Claysville United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC, Rogersville, Pa.
