Helen I. Reed, 84, of New Freeport, Pa. died at 3:26 a.m. Sunday, December 26, 2010 in the loving arms of her granddaughters in the home of her daughter Gloria Mason.She was born October 25, 1926 in Richhill Twp. (Bristoria), Greene Co. Pa. a daughter of the late Howard Ray and Lena Virginia Whipkey Anderson.Mrs. Reed had resided in Canal Fulton, Ohio for 16 years prior to returning to Greene Co. and New Freeport in 1967.She was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women and she was a 1944 graduate of Hundred (W.Va.) High School.Mrs. Reed was a member of the New Freeport V.F.D. auxiliary and the American Legion Post 120 Auxiliary in Hundred, W.Va. and was a former volunteer with Greene County Meals On Wheels.She was an avid fan of all sports, including baseball, football (Steelers) and golf and was a fabulous cook.On October 23, 1945 she married Kelley Elkins Reed who died September 30, 1984.Surviving are two daughters, Gloria, wife of Steve Mason of Deep Valley and Carol Kratzer of Conyers, Ga.; a son, Kelley M., husband of Devonna Reed of New Freeport; a brother, Ralph, husband of Kay Anderson of New Freeport; two sisters, Marcia, wife of Larry Sterling of New Freeport and Frances Anderson of Carmichaels; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are three grandchildren, Larry Dean Kratzer and twins, Jeffrey and Stephen Mason; a brother, Donald E. Anderson; a sister, Beverly Cumberledge.
