Hazel L. Hillbery

Hazel Lindley Hillberry, 92, of Claysville, Pa., died on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at 9:10 a.m. In the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Tammy Lindley, in East Finley Twp.

She was born July 11, 1929 in Morris Twp., Washington County, Pa. a daughter of the late Carl Hird and Alva Irene Sprowls Dorsey.

Mrs. Hillberry had lived in East Finley Twp. most of her life prior to moving to Donegal Twp. in l997 and moving to Claysville in 2007.

She was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church in East Finley Twp. where she formerly served as a Sunday School teacher, trustee, church treasurer, and was a member of the United Methodist Women and Ladies Aid Society of the church.

Mrs. Hillberry was also a member of and the former Secretary of the Fairmount Cemetery Board and a charter member of the East Finley Twp. Park committee and also served on the election boards of Donegal and East Finley Twp., and was a member of the Claysville V.F.D. Ladies Auxiliary.

She and her late husband, Dallas Lindley owned and operated the East Finley General Store in East Finley Twp. from 1948 until 1952; she was last employed as a sales clerk for the former D.M. Campsey Seed & Feed Store in Claysville for 24 years prior to retiring in 2005.

On August 26, 1947 she married Dallas Newton Lindley who died February 3, 1981, and on May 18, 1991 she married Logan Lafayette Hillberry who died April 7, 2000.

Surviving are four sons, Havel Lindley of Okmulgee, OK., Reed (Janet) Lindley of Pottstown, Pa., Phillip (Allison) Lindley of Hermiston, OR., and Gerald (Tammy) Lindley of East Finley Twp.; a daughter-in-law, Becky Lindley of East Finley Twp.; three step-children, Cheryl Wheat of Virginia, Dave (Christine) Hillberry of Miami, Fl., and Charles (Kathleen) Hillberry of McDonald, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 7 step-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Maxine Reynolds of Washington; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to her parents and husbands are two sons, Ray Eugene Lindley who died in infancy and Bruce Lindley who died July 12, 2020; a sister, Lucille Bedilion; 8 brothers, Earl Dorsey who died in infancy, Gaylord, Leo, Ralph, Floyd, Vance, Paul and Blaine Dorsey.

Friends and family will be received on Friday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Fairmount United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, September 4, 2021, with Rev. Scott Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, East Finley Twp.
