Georgia "Georgie" E. (Bowers) Lewis

Georgia “Georgie” E. (Bowers) Lewis, age 84, of Holbrook, PA passed away at home Monday, June 18, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Born September 11, 1933, in Graysville, PA., she is the daughter of the late Ralph and Grace Pearl (Parson) Bowers.

On September 18, 1948, she married Earl Eugene Lewis who preceded her in death. Together they were blessed with seven children. which they raised in Greene County. Georgia was a resident of Rutan, Center Twp., most of her life. She was a member of the former Claylick United Methodist Church. Georgia worked for the former Greenway Manufacturing Company where she was employed as a Seamstress and then at West Greene School District as a cook for 33 years until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed outdoor activities. She was known for taking excellent care of her livestock. Georgie could often be seen with her cats watching her many humming bird feeders when she was done with her chores. She was a talented seamstress and crocheter and shared this with her family. She was an avid Steeler's fan.

She is survived by seven children, Sharon (Anthony) Vedis, of Winnemucca, NV., Pamela Lewis, of Wind Ridge, PA., Norman E. (Jo) Lewis, of Graysville, PA.; Wendy (James) Helphenstine, of Wind Ridge, PA., Vickie (Robert) Chelini, of Morenci, AZ., Connie E. Tennant, of Sycamore, PA., Jo Ella (Rick) McClellan, of Winnemucca, NV.; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Thomas, of Spraggs, PA.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, John and Harold Bowers; four sisters, Anna Bowers, Louise Tharp, Erma Kilgore and Freda Deems; one grandson, Alan Lance Helphenstine.

Friends will be received on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 2-8 P.M. at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA. 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Adam Stokes, officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery, Center Twp., PA.
