Edith Eleanor (Wright) Crouse

Edith Eleanor (Wright) Crouse, age 92, of Graysville, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Waynesburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. 

Born May 25, 1932, in E. Finley Twp., Washington County, daughter of the late Albert Herman and Grace Theo (Hewitt) Wright.

Edith had been a Graysville resident since 1982. She was a member of the Union Valley United Methodist Church in Graysville, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the Choir. Edith married Layton Howard Crouse on June 11, 1953, and they were happily married for 69 wonderful years until his passing on May 16, 2023. She was a former Nanny for Roland and Helene Snee. Edith enjoyed baking, raising flowers, gardening, being with her family, and helping others. She was a caregiver for the elderly.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the 5 South Wing at Washington Hospital, Amedisys Hospice, and Wing B at Waynesburg Health and Rehabilitation Center for taking such great care of Edith.

She is survived by four children, Allan H. Crouse, of Graysville, Ellen M. (Mark) Sams, of Washington, Stephen (Jani Coster) Crouse, of Morgantown, WV., and Lewis (Deborah) Crouse, of Sycamore; nine grandchildren, Natalie Carlson, of Washington, Trent (Jenna) Carlson, of Washington, Ruthie Grooms, of Dilliner, Darren (Natalie) Crouse, of Carmichaels, Travis (Amy) Crouse, of Claysville, Zoe Crouse, of Morgantown, WV, Tyler (Marsha Kao) Sams, of Washington, D.C., Chelsea (Heath) Headley, of Glasgow, MT, and Anna (Brian) Heneghan, of Portland, OR; nine great grandchildren, Layton Wright, Harper and Henley Carlson, Sophie, Levi, Arielle, Caleb, and Mallory Crouse, and Caleb Headley; one sister-n-law, Romaine Wright, of Washington.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Cecil, Richard, and Charlie Wright, and one in infancy; and three sisters, Helen Ealy, Frances Bennett, and one in infancy.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 2-8 PM at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy. PO Box 434 Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with Pastor Scott Lawrence, officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.
