Dorothy T. Fordyce, 81, of Waynesburg, Pa. and formerly of Carmichaels died at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, January 31, 2010 in the Respi Center-West in Waynesburg.She was born March 14, 1928 in Clarksville, Pa. a daughter of the late Howard James and Ocie Ferne McCarthy Gilmer and had resided in the Carmichaels area for 8 years prior to moving to the Oak Forest and Waynesburg areas in 2004.Mrs. Fordyce was a member of the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church in Clarksville.She enjoyed word search puzzles as a hobby and was a 1946 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High SchoolOn April 21, 1951 she married Miller Melvin Fordyce who died July 16, 2006.Surviving is a daughter, Beverly J., wife of Gary Graham of Oak Forest, Pa.; a step-son, Melvin M., husband of Carolyn Fordyce of Shanahan, Il.; a grandson, Michael E., husband of Jennifer Shuman of Mt. Angel, Oregon; two great grandchildren, Gavin and Jenna Shuman; two sisters, Margaret D. DeFrancesco and Shirley Tarr both of Waynesburg; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are a son, Howard Joseph Fordyce who died in 1997; a sister, Loretta Furman; a brother, Thomas Gilmer.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to your local American Cancer Society.
