Delbert “Joe” Wilson, age 83, of Waynesburg, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Waynesburg Hospital.
Born October 30, 1940, in Crossroads, WV, son of the late Chester Carl and Ethel (Barr) Wilson.
Joe was a Greene County resident his whole life. He graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1958. Joe married Carol Sue McCracken on December 3, 1962, and they were happily married for 61 years. Joe worked for W.L. Stewart Motor Company as a car salesman, service and parts manager, and operated the tow truck in the evenings for 26 years. During that time, he also began his career in real estate investment, a career that he enjoyed for over 60 years before retiring in 2019.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Traci Jo (Tony) Wade and Erik (Rebecca) Wilson, both of Waynesburg; two grandchildren, Amy Jo (Michael) Gyurke and Michael (Amie) Wade, both of Waynesburg; two great grandchildren, Adelaide Jo and Elyse Lynn Gyurke; four siblings, Carolyn Sue Cowell, of Waynesburg, Wanda Lou Hartley, of Ohio, Harley “Butch” (Ramona) Wilson, of AR, and William “Bill” Chester Wilson, of Fairmont, WV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Richard Carl Wilson and Lydia Wilson, who died in infancy.
