Cora Shields

Cora Myrle Shields, 75, of Rogersville, Pa. died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2007 in the Seabright's Personal Care Home, Rogersville.She was born August 26, 1931 in Waynesburg, Pa. a daughter of William Austin and Emma Rebecca Pethtel Hughes and had resided in Rogersville since 1964.Mrs. Shields formerly attended the Rogersville Christian Church.She enjoyed quilting, needlework, and in her early years made her own clothing.Mrs. Shields was employed as a cook at the former Albert's Restaurant in Waynesburg for several years and was last employed by the Waynesburg Shop'n Save prior to retiring in 1985.On January 7, 1952 she married Robert Boyd Shields who died July 16, 2003.Surviving are four sons, Robert W., husband of Sara Jo Shields of West Union, Michael L., husband of Donna Shields of Prosperity, John D., husband of Linda Shields of Washington and Mark A. Shields of Rogersville; one sister, Bernice Miller of Waynesburg; seven grandchildren, Robert C., Charles M., Mark W., Nathan A., Justin D. and Melissa R. Shields, and Jessica E. Hoopes; three great grandchildren, Dillon, Kaden and Samuel Shields; four step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to her husband are two sisters, Beatrice Henderson and Sylvia Andrusky.
