Charles C. Ludwin, 72, of West Alexander, Pa., R.D.#2 died at 9:47 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2003 in his home after being in failing health for the past three years.Mr. Ludwin was born March 27, 1931 in Venice, Pa. a son of Frank and Clara Margretta Krenn Ludwin.He had resided in Washington, Pa. prior to moving to West Alexander in 1969.Mr. Ludwin was employed all his working life as a machinist and welder and a former employee of Crile Metallizing, Neville Island Shipyard and Nicholson Pile.He was the owner and operator of Ludwin Sawmill and Logging from 1976 until retiring in 1995.Mr. Ludwin was a 1949 graduate of Cecil Township High School.He enjoyed raising and training horses and mules and was a self-taught wagon builder.One May 31, 1984 he married Arlene Catherine Maccari Ludwin who survives.Also surviving are one daughter, Kathy O'Dell Welte of Erie, Pa.; one son, Charles C. Ludwin, Jr. of Washington, Pa.; three step sons, Anthony Graytok of Poway, California, Donald "Joe" Ealy and David Wayne Ealy both of West Alexander, R.D.#2; one brother, Wayne Lee Ludwin of Castle Shannon, Pa.; two sisters, Janice Gibbs of McDonald, Pa. and Judy Bowser of Canonsburg, Pa.; four grandchildren, Ryan Ludwin, Christy, Jeremy and Stacy Welte; five step grandchildren, Anessa and Daniel Graytok, Kansas, Savannah and Cody Ealy; one great grandson, Nolan Welte.Deceased are one brother, David Ludwin; one sister, Bertha Jane Ludwin who died at the age of 3.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a kidney transplant fund to be established by the Ludwin family for Donald "Joe" Ealy, c/o of Arlene Ludwin, 56B Shaler Rd., West Alexander, Pa. 15376.Arrangements are under the direction of the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa.
