Charles Edward Ceney, 86, of Waynesburg, Pa., died at 10:05 p.m., Wednesday, January 1, 2014 in the Golden Living Center, Franklin Twp., Pa.He was born September 23, 1927 in Greentree, Pa., a son of the late John Henry and Emily Harriet Angel Ceney, and had resided in Annandale, Va., prior to moving to Waynesburg, Pa., in 2003.Mr. Ceney attended the Rogersville Christian Church " Place of Grace as long as his health permitted it.He was a veteran of World War II serving as a PFC with the U.S. Army as a switchboard operator.Mr. Ceney was a machinist and shop foreman for the Atlantic Research Corporation, Alexandria, Va., for 35 years prior to retiring in 1990.He enjoyed building furniture, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Washington Redskins fan, and was a bass fisherman who won many trophies in tournaments.On February 9, 1952 he married Agnes Mary Scott who died on August 8, 2002.Surviving are a son Charles E. Jr., husband of Maryn "Shultz Ceney of Manassas, Va.; a daughter, Elizabeth, wife of Dave Collins of Wind Ridge, Pa.; two grandchildren, David Jr. and Anna Collins; a brother, Robert Ceney of Carnegie, Pa.; and a sister, Florence Pollard of McDonald, Pa.Deceased in addition to his wife and parents are five brothers, Frank, Herbert (Bud), George, John Thomas (Tom), and Richard; and four sisters, Dara Costilioe, Anna Viohl, Amy Sickles, and Emily Cerra.
