Anna E. Palmer

Anna E. Palmer, age 87, of Claysville, PA, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Premier Health Center, Washington, PA.

Born September 21, 1930, in Claysville, PA, she is the daughter of the late James F.C. and Anna (Walker) Palmer.

Anna graduated from Claysville High School in 1948. She worked for Hensel’s Cleaners in Claysville, PA, for 15 years. Anna retired from Gashel’s Market, Claysville, PA, after 27 plus years of employment. She was a lifetime member of the Claysville United Presbyterian Church. Anna was a member of the Hunt/Kennedy Unit 639 American Legion Auxiliary since 1961. Over the years she held many different offices and served on many committees. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, reading and playing solitaire on her computer. Anna was one of the first residents of the Claysville Senior Apartments when it opened in Feb. 2007, after leaving her lifelong home on Petroleum Ave, in which she was born. She served on the Board of Directors as Secretary/Treasurer of the Claysville Cemetery Association after her retirement, until her health would no longer permit it.

She is survived by her nephew, David B. (Lynn) Palmer, of Pearland, TX; her nieces, Laura Morris, of Pittsburgh, PA, Ellen Palmer, of Philadelphia, PA, and Kathleen P. (Ed) Hennen, of Felton, DE; her three great-nieces, Natasha Morris, Jordan Palmer, and Stephanie Buckley; her three great-nephews, Andrew Morris, Brett Beckley and Alex Palmer; and her favorite cousin, Becky Walker Sprowls, of Washington, PA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary L. Palmer; two brothers, James W. Palmer and George C. Palmer.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at the Claysville United Presbyterian Church, 134 Wayne Street, Claysville, PA, 15323. Telephone: 724-663-4465. A funeral service will be held at the church on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Dr. Jerome Creach and Rev. Susan Petritis, (Chaplain for Gateway Hospice) co-officiating. Burial will follow at Claysville Cemetery, Claysville, PA.
